The agency will aim to bring high reliability and a standardised difficulty level to assess the aptitude, intelligence and problem-solving abilities of students.
The CBSE, barring the Board exams, will be relieved of tests like the Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE), NEET, UGC’s National Eligibility Test (twice a year), Central Teacher Eligibility Test (twice a year) and entrance tests for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
The NTA will get a one-time Rs 25 crore grant from the Centre to start operations in the first year. Thereafter, it has to be self-sustainable.
Under NTA, entrance tests to be held online.
